My husband and I took a seven day private tour with Custom Travel. Working with Fiona regarding the planning went seamlessly. When we weren’t sure of this place or that, she gave her honest opinion re options. She was amazingly responsive and timely throughout. Smiley and his driver took us on an exciting trip to northern Vietnam. While the driving was long and very winding through the mountains, our driver was excellent. Smiley has excellent English skills and not only showed us all of the best sights, but he was able to give us an excellent history of this country’s past and answered all of our questions. Our comfort and happiness were his primary concern. We ended our tour with an overnight on a private junk boat in HaLong Bay and Cat Bah, which was amazing! Don’t miss this part of any itinerary you plan. Having traveled extensively throuout the world, I can wholeheartedly recommend this company for your travel needs. We had the trip of a lifetime coordinated by Kate To. She was responsive, personable, & knowledgeable. She put together a nine day itinerary for us to travel from north to south in Vietnam. We had the best guides and drivers. It was seamless. Phuoc, our guide in Hanoi was a true teacher(please tell his mother) & Tam navigated through the chaos !! We have just returned from Vietnam and finished with a 3 day trip to Sapa. Booked with Custom Vietnam travel as recommended by friends and can't fault them. Our contact was Susan and from the initial enquiry till the final phone call en route back she was lovely, responsive, including phoning us to see how our trip was going. Our guide was Lam who was fantastic ,he had a wealth of knowledge, excellent English and very enthusiastic, adapting our tour around the weather and sights to see. Also a thanks to the driver Cuong who negotiated the roads with care and calm professional manner, and ensuring there was always bottles of water in the car !We had one night in a home stay with a welcoming family, yummy food and enjoyed eating together. The room was very clean as was the bathrooms. Sapa was a beautiful place to visit as was the rest of Vietnam, the friendly nature of the people and a genuine warmth was evident. Of course the food was delicious too. Would definitely recommend Custom Vietnam travel for anyone wanting to organise a trip in Vietnam.

We went to Nghia Lo, Mu Cang Chai, Sa Pa, Ha Giang province (Hoang Su Phi area, Yen Minh), Meo Vac and Ba Be lakes. Everything was organised perfectly and the tourguide (Bean) was an excelent guide.We stayed in several homestays and hotels. Especially the small size family run homestays were a great experience. No luxury but lot of hospitality, good food and unforgettable impressions.

This is a delayed review, our trip was at the end of August 2017. Having checked reviews thoroughly, I decided to use Custom Vietnam Travel to book a day trip from Hanoi to Ninh Binh – Thung Nang and Bich Dong Pagoda. Email correspondence with Susan was always quick and efficient. I paid for the trip on line a few days before we left the UK. Our tour guide for the day was Huang. He turned up on time, was very pleasant and had the best English of all the tour guides we encountered during our tour of Vietnam. We had our own private vehicle. On arrival in Ninh Binh, we rode bikes through the countryside until we got to the river where we picked up boats. 2 people per boat and the local ladies rowed the boats using their feet. Incredible and they did it with such ease! The scenery was spectacular and it was so peaceful. We were the only tourists there; the only other people we saw were locals carrying on with their daily lives. Once off the boats, we were back on our bikes to visit the Pagoda. And then we went to a hotel for lunch. This was a beautiful day out. The bike ride was easy, all on the flat, so don’t be put off. This is a much less touristy area than Tam Coc. So I would highly recommend doing this particular tour and using Custom Vietnam Travel. I would certainly use them again for booking any tours when we return to Vietnam.

I stayed a week in north Vietnam to visit Hanoi, Mu Tang Chai and Halong Bay. Custom Vietnam travel made my trip unforgettable with a great guide named Thanh who have excellent knowledge and his passionate about his country traditions. Photography is a big hobby of me, and I wanted to experience Ninh Binh without crowds and with great views at the right time to capture this magical place as good as possible. After having read the positive reviews of "Custom Vietnam Travel" I contacted them through their official website to arrange and book a trip. From the start everything went perfectly. Their booking representative Ms. Jane was very responsive and she understood my requirements perfectly. Replies to my emails were always prompt. We agreed on a early departure to be ahead of the big tour groups. It turned out that the guide Hoang also has photography as hobby. A guide who can talk about photography was certainly an impressive addition to my requirements. He understood what I was looking for and we exchanged ideas. He certainly knew what he was talking about, even though he had to admit that lately he didn't have much time for his hobby. In addition he was very knowledgeable about the history and places we went to. His English was perfect. The ride to Ninh Binh was quick, ahead of heavier traffic, and very comfortable. During the magical boat tour there were a few other people out boating, but on many sections I was the only one out there except for the local fishermen. The earlier hour also ensured good light for great shots. After the boat tour we visited the pagoda where it was also surprisingly quiet. Again, more magical shots! The lunch on a roof top restaurant with more great views was delicious, and on we went to a view point over the valley. The climb was hot but worthwhile, and the light was difficult at this time for good shots, but nothing a polarizing filter couldn't fix! All the great shots aside. What stands out most of this tour are the memories of an excellent customized trip to magically beautiful Ninh Binh. Custom Vietnam Travel is highly recommended!
