I recommend Custom Vietnam Tours. They are all about the traveller immersing themselves in the local culture. The guides are fantastic (particularly Lam in Hanoi - top notch). All the hotels we stayed in far exceeded our expectations. Amazingly easy to book through email with Minh - she made it the booking procedures enjoyable. If you are trying to find a tour company to book a holiday or even day tours with anywhere in Vietnam I totally recommend Custom Vietnam.

We took the Ninh Bing day tour where we took a boat ride down a river, biked through the countryside and a short easy trek in one of the popular pagodas. We came from Hanoi and this tour was a refreshing change of pace. Hung, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and answered well a lot of our curiosities on Vietnamese culture. We were also surprised how generous the tour was, lunch was amazing and Hung never hurried us one bit. Exceeded our expectations and would highly recommend!

I got in contact with Jane and she arranged our tours. Arrangement and advise she gave us were super and we would for sure book via custom travel vietnam again. They even gave us a mobile phone during the tour with all their numbers in it. So, if we had any problem we would be able to reach them easily!

From my first email interaction, Liliana was EXTREMELY helpful. She arranged our visa on arrival (fast track!), as well as a day trip to Ninh Binh. Her communication was beyond kind, and always so fast and attentive. She even met us at our hotel to welcome us to Vietnam with a gift! Thank you, Liliana!!

First about us. 2 couples travelling to celebrate the guys 60th birthdays. I first contacted Custom about a year prior to our trip date, giving Minh Ninh a very rough description of what we were thinking of doing. Minh replied with some suggestions. I spoke with friends who had been to Vietnam and sent MInh potential revisions to the plan. This went on for about six months with all her emails being friendly an cooperative to adjusting plans to our needs. We finally came up with a plan that we liked and booked our trip. We did pick the superior hotel option, and when we said we wanted a couple of specific hotels she did not offer, she made arrangements to get those hotels for us. Minh also let us know that changes could also be made as we went along. On arriving in Hanoi, we were greeted by our guide, Mr. Lam, with a warm and gracious smile. The four of us were picked up by Lam and a driver in a 12 passenger van. Lot's of space and comfort. As we arrived in the evening, Lam took us to the hotel and did not leave until were checked in and comfortable. The hotel they suggested (la Siesta, in the old quarter) was phenomenal and in a great location in the old quarter. He then suggested a couple of restaurants within walking distance and set a meeting time for the morning. Lam was with us for Hanoi, Sapa and Halong Bay. He was informative, friendly and a pleasure as a guide. If you go to Halong bay and decide to do a multi day junk boat trip, make sure you use Indochina junk, as they take a more secluded route than the other companies (you are still never alone). In Halong Bay, my friend developed kidney stones and had to go to the hospital. Lam took us to the hospital, and spent the night there with my friend and his wife acting as interpreter. He was no longer just a great guide, but a wonderful human being. My friends ended up coming home, and a few days ago Lam emailed to see how Alan was feeling. Minh also did everything to get my friends all the paperwork they would need for insurance purposes. Our next 2 guides Nam and Hoa were also excellent. Both gave us lot's of information, while realizing when we were going into information overload. They were friendly and outgoing. All 3 guides were very good at adapting our schedule as we went along to accommodate request we made on the go (assuming they were doable) I have already recommended Minh and Custom Vietnam tours to friends, and would not hesitate to do so again.

Minh and her crew at CVT were absolutely top-notch. From our initial contact, to the final execution, not a single detail was overlooked. Minh made sure that everything ran smoothly and we had the vacation of our dreams. The guides were amazing, the itinerary was perfect, and we couldn't rave more about how terrific our trip was. I arranged my visit in Vietnam through Custom Vietnam Travel, best decision ever, their rates were brilliant, the hotels booked awesome and Minh Ninh came to meet us, was available on watsap all the time, assisted us with train tickets(from Vietnam to China - my idea, but not very comfortable, so I suggest if you do go this way,fly rather) and internal flights, the smoothest way to travel to Vietnam. The two hotels we stayed in was brilliant, in Hoi An we stayed in Boutique HoiAn Resort, we never even left the hotel to find street restaurants, the food was superb, even ordering room service was affordable, the Hoi An specialty meals was much better than the "western" food,cheaper also, so do go for Hoi An style noodles with beef, DEFINITELY do Vietnam pancakes,it was a great start and to relax at the beach and their spa is worth it! In Hanoi we stayed in Essence Hanoi hotel, best hotel ever!!, perfectly central, best staff who went out of their way(can't wait to return to them!), beautiful rooms, so comfortable (even desk with laptop available for your convenience), and in Hanoi you HAVE to have the egg coffee (see pick attached for best shop). We visited Halong Bay on Carina Cruise as well, a must do, but opt for 2-3 days, one day is way too little and too far of a drive for such a short time. Carina was great because it only had 9 rooms, so not too many people, the food was amazing, young! chef and every evening was a treat,he simply amazed me. The excursions every day was brilliant, I especially enjoyed the pearl excursion and even got a beautiful ring there for our anniversary. The rooms are quite small and I am very happy our hotel in Hanoi kept our one bag for us(their suggestion) as we did return to them and it was a great help. Hanoi was vibrant, with coffee shops galore, and if you don't like Asian food much there is Pizza places,burgers, etc. too. My wife, 9-month daughter and I used Custom Vietnam Travel (CVT) to help arrange a 22-day private tour of Vietnam that started in Saigon and ended in northern Vietnam (Hanoi, Sapa and Ha Long Bay). Our trip was perfect-all of our guides/drivers were flexible and understanding when we needed to skip an event or change plans/times because of our daughter (sleeping, overly fussy, etc.) at any given time). Prompt replies to our queries from CVT management via email or WhatsApp were the norm throughout the trip when we had questions about anything. We were picked up promptly from our hotel by our friendly guide, Hung, who spoke great English. We are a family of 5 and had the air conditioned bus all to ourselves for the duration of the journey to Ninh Binh. My mother had a bad back and both the driver and Hung made sure she was okay every step of the way and adapted our tour to suit her needs. He was really helpful, attentive and full of knowledge about the places we visited. He gave us space to go at our own pace but was always close by to help us or guide us when needed it, which was perfect. I would highly recommend this tour company and a trip to Ninh Binh!
