An amazing personalized custom Vietnam holiday

We have had an amazing Vietnam Holiday arranged by the extremely dedicated tourist agent Minh Ninh at Custom Asia Travel. Always professional and correct, warm and helpful, she handled our many questions and customized our stay in Vietnam to suit our special interests, requirements and dreams. She was punctual in meetings with us and quick to reply to any messages we sent to her via emails and whatsapp day and night. Our days in Hanoi and other parts of Vietnam were filled with diverse and interesting activities thanks to her. Our tour guide Lam Ngo was incredibly well versed in Vietnam history and culture and was able to share it with us in a personal style that held our interest, and his sharp humor was fun and entertaining. He showed us around the city's important cultural sites. We took an amazing afternoon vintage motorbike tour with the company called Vietnam Backstreet Tours that showed many rarely shown areas in Hanoi to tourists. We were introduced to a very old poor woman at her apartment to hear about her situation, drove through alleys and streets so narrow that we were centimeters from scraping the side mirrors, went to a narrow stretch of housing where the only space between the both sides of the street was the railroad track, and they timed it so we got to see a train pass through!! They took us to little known street restaurants and market places and to a homeless settlement area near the river. The company very admirably supports and donates a certain percent of all income to help the homeless and needy. The young tour leaders made the day daring, fun and interesting, showed deep and sincere empathy for the vulnerable people in the society. We give this Backstreet Tour our highest possible rating!! We had several days out in the Vietnamese countryside in the areas of Mai Chau and Ninh Binh. Our driver Ouc (yok?) was very punctual, always waiting for us even earlier than the agreed time, dedicated and flexible to changed plans, he and guide Lam did everything in their power to make our lives fun and interesting. That included long walks in the rice paddies and through the villages nearby, bicycle tours through villages and rice fields, delicious lunches at private Homestay restaurants, and trips with the company van to places where we got to climb up to mountain peaks that offered incredible views. We also took a boat trip on narrow waterways between steep mountain tops and several exciting tunnels. Everything was perfect on our agenda except for the famous Water Puppet Show which we didn't appreciate so much, we were glad for the experience anyway, but we don't recommend it to other travelers. Unfortunately, we decided to abruptly end our Vietnam Holiday because of both Swedish and Vietnam travel restrictions for in and out travel caused by the unexpectedly rapid spread of the covid-19 virus. We returned early to Hanoi a couple of days before leaving Vietnam and stayed at the fantastic Oriental Jade Hotel: located centrally, with excellent rooms, breakfasts and fantastic service by reception personnel. We also found an impressive Street Art part of Hanoi with murals painted on the support walls under the train tracks that we enjoyed immensely. The two pre-booked destinations that we missed because of the virus were the islands in Halong Bay and the beach resort at Hoi An, but we intend to return to the amazing country of Vietnam in the future and put those two at the top of our wish list!!

Three Weeks, three Guides, great drivers and wonderful personal attention!

My husband and I used Custom Tours and Ms. Minh Ninh was our travel specialist. From the moment I made contact with her she was not only helpful but she gave us fantastic service, responding to questions and requests almost immediately, I often wondered if she slept!. We have used other tour companies for private tours in other countries and we have found that by doing so we can plan a trip to do what we want when we want. When I first contacted Ms.Ninh I gave her a rough itinerary and she was able to add to it and make excellent suggestions as to both things to see and hotels to use. We spent time in the south, central and north of Vietnam. We had 3 different guides, all of who we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with, we will never forget driving on scooters behind our guide and driver through the mud in Nimh Binh! We learned so much more about Vietnam just by talking to them. They were not only informative but also fun to be with. We were particularly glad we were using Custom Travel during these troubling times. When we were in Hanoi our first hotel closed (as were many others) but Ms. Ninh took care of everything. She was also able to find us a new cruise ship on a days notice after the one we were suppose to be using was taken out of service. We were very pleased with Custom Tours and would certainly recommend them to others! I would be happy to answer and further questions. Many, many thanks to all the staff of Custom Tours!

Unbelievable Trip through Vietnam & Cambodia

My wife & I worked with Susan from Custom Vietnam Travel (Custom Asia Travel) to put together an amazing custom 15 day private tour for us. Susan was extremely responsive and knowledgeable throughout the entire planning process, as well as checking in our us leading into the tour, during the tour and after the tour. We had originally reached out to 7 different highly rated tour companies. After going back and forth with each company, paring the list down to a few, we eventually picked Custom Asia Travel and we are glad we did. We didn’t based our decision to choose Custom Asia Travel based only on price, but on quality and responsive. Susan was extremely responsive and respectful throughout the entire planning process. We never had an issue with the tour during the entire 15 days, everything went like clockwork. The tour guides and drivers in each city were great, as well as the accommodations and restaurants.

Amazing Mekong Delta and Cambodia Itinerary

Custom Vietnam Travel was the perfect agency to contact for what I wanted to do on our two week trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. And Rosie was the perfect agent. She was very professional, personable, efficient, and responsive. I did not have any problem getting a quick reply from her during the preparation; and while we were on the trip she was always available to help and to assure me that things would run smoothly. I had already created a skeleton itinerary of places we wanted to visit and made reservations at some accommodations. What I needed was how to get from place to place. We wanted private transportation and private tours. As non-touristy as possible. I sent Rosie my itinerary and told her what I wanted. She sent me back my itinerary outlined with car/driver pickup and drop off for all locations. In addition she included suggestions for places to go I didn't know about and planned an off-road Mekong trip which included a boat trip on the palm lined river seeing coconut plantations, daily life along the river, walk through villages, and lunch in a local village restaurant. It was fabulous. Phuong was a wonderful guide, knowledgeable, and lots of fun. Rosie made all the transportation accommodations to get us from Saigon to Siem Reap. We had a mixture of road trips and boat trips which provided a broad picture of life in the Mekong Delta and Cambodia. The guide, Anna, and her friendly driver drove us to Chau Doc to board our private speed boat to Cambodia. Anna was also very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. A Chau Doc the Hang Chau boat operator was waiting and proceeded to get us our visas on arrival in Cambodia. On arrival in Phnom Penh, our guide, Mr. Daream, was waiting to pick us up and take us to our hotel which Rosie had suggested, The Bale. A wonderful relaxing place on the river where we experienced a gorgeous sunrise over the Mekong the next morning and watched the fisherman on the river. I'm grateful to Rosie for suggesting The Bale. The next morning, Mr. Daream picked us up for our last leg of the itinerary; a drive to Siem Reap. Mr. Daream was another knowledgeable guide. We stopped at the spider market, visited the ancient Naga Bridge, and a stone carving workshop along the way. All of the guides and drivers were courteous, friendly, and delightful people. Always on time, professional, and helpful. The entire trip was exceptionally smooth without any problems; and it was amazing beyond our expectations. Thanks to Rosie and her excellent skill as a travel agent !! Vietnam and Cambodia are beautiful places with wonderful people.

Cultural Vietnam

We were absolutely satisfied with the service we received from Julie at Vietnam Custom Travel. Everything was very well organized. From our first email enquiry up until our departure from Hanoi she not only ensured that everything was to our satisfaction, she checked in with us at every stage of our trip to ensure that everything was okay with the hotel and tour guide allocated to us. We could not have asked for better assistance and would recommend without any reservation.

One of the best ever

We did a private trip which was designed by Minh Ninh of Custom Travel. Great glimpse of Vietnam, lots of very professional and expert staff and guides. We felt very confident with the organisation and flow. Some comments: People The Guides were all very good with our Hanoi guide (I have forgotten his name) being exceptional. We enjoyed the discussions on history, religion, politics and culture and I found that we could have long and high level conversations. Hotels The best premises we stayed at were firstly La Siesta in Hanoi, and then Lantana in Hoi An. Not only were they very nicely appointed but the staff in both locations are excellent. Optional Tours We thoroughly enjoyed the mopeds in Ho Chi Minh. My partner was screaming in nervous delight and smiled for the whole time. The less good was the Bai Tu Long Bay trip. The scenery is absolutely stunning and I understand why everybody wants to visit. The boat, guide, and crew need a real jolt to get to a more professional level. The guide was largely absent and apart from a 5 minute introductory was not to be found so passengers could not ask questions. The Captain was lazy and the crew therefore not so well trained in hospitality. Passengers had to find them to get a drink or ask a question, and most times they sit around playing games on their phones. We had fun, and met some nice people and experienced the beautiful surrounds but there was no feeling of bonding with the crew which normally comes with such a close intimate experience. Would we change anything? Not much as we enjoyed most things we did and saw. I personally loved the Hue citadel and palace tour and because of my interest in history could have spent a full day doing that. The walking tours are terrific. Hoi An is nice but too touristic so maybe one day less there. Glad we did not go to the Danang beaches as that mass tourism is not our scene. The tour food was very good but often too much so maybe consider less food, better quality for same price??? Next trip we would redo some of the things, and probably do a bit of beach/mountain time away from the tourist hubs.

Tour of Hanoi

We drove down from the Halong Bay cruise port to enjoy a tour of the city that was arranged by Fiona at Custom Vietnam travel. She arranged for a guide, driver and car that was at our disposal during our tour. We are able to visit the "Hanoi Hilton" prison where both Vietnamese and later American prisoners were detained. We then had a wonderful lunch of excellent Vietnamese food. Afterwards. we toured the Ho Chi Minh moseleum and surrounding points of interest, including seeing (from the outside) a number of embassays and government buildings of great importance. We also visited a very unusual store where all of the paintings, jewelry, etc were made by victims of agent orange. All in all we had a great tour by a terrific team. I would highly recommend using Custom Vietnam Travel should you have the opportunity to visit.

Great trip to Ninh Binh Area!

We are a family of five (children aged 15, 12 and 8) and did the two day / one night trip to Ninh Binh, including Tam Coc and the Bich Dong Pagoda on the first day and Cuc Phoung National Park on the second day. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. It was very well organized and when booking and in the lead up the communication from the company (through Ms Minh Ninh) was excellent. Everything ran smoothly with a very nice hotel and comfortable van, but it was our guide (Mr Kim) who really made the trip so enjoyable. His English was perfect and he was very interesting to chat to, not just about the places we visited but Vietnam life and people more generally. He was great with the children and kept encouraging us to be adventurous on the bike ride and jungle walk. The highlight of the trip were the primate and turtle conservation centres, which the children loved. I would thoroughly recommend this trip and the company, but would also say visit Ninh Binh sooner rather than later as it is becoming very popular and there is lots of development happening.
